The European Investment Trust plc was incorporated in May 1972, prior to the UK joining the EEC in 1973.
At that time the principal objective of the Company was to invest in equities within the enlarged EEC and of other European countries and of companies worldwide with a significant interest in Europe.
The Company is an investment trust listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Approaching our first half century
The Company was initially named F&C Eurotrust plc, before changing its name in January 1992 to Foreign & Colonial Eurotrust plc. In 2009, the Directors conducted a review of the Company’s investment management arrangements and appointed Edinburgh Partners Limited as the new investment manager with effect from
1 February 2010. At that time the name of the Company was changed to The European Investment Trust plc.
Edinburgh Partners AIFM Limited is the Alternative Investment Fund Manager for the Company. Management of the portfolio has been delegated to Edinburgh Partners Limited.
